AMERICAN RED CROSS LIFEGUARD TRAINING

This course provides entry-level lifeguard participants with the knowledge and skills to prevent, recognize, and respond to aquatic emergencies and to provide care for breathing and cardiac emergencies, injuries, and sudden illnesses until emergency medical personnel take over.

To enroll in the class, participants must be at least 15 years of age by the first day of class and be a STRONG SWIMMER. Participants must pass a prerequisite swim test. The certification course is 30 hours. Attendace is mandatory at every session.

Prerequisite Swim Test:

A continuous - 300 yard (12 lengths) - Swim of Front Crawl and/or Breaststroke - NO STOPPING
Treading Water - 2 minutes hands free - kicking only
Swim 20 yards using Front Crawl or Breaststroke - surface dive to depth of 7-10ft, retrieve a 10 lb. object, return to the surface, and swim 20 yards back to the starting point with the object on your stomach being held with both hands; get out at the end of the pool (all within 1 minute and 40 seconds).
 
Bring a swim suit, towels, and a water bottle to every session. Course material will be provided.
 
Price: Full class $195        Recertification: $85
Failure to complete the swim test will result in participant being dropped from class and will result in 50% refund of fee paid.
